All MEAN WELL PWM series LED drivers supplied by ADM are tested and certified to Australian electrical safety standards, and feature a factory fitted Australian AC flex and plug for convenient installation.

The PWM series LED drivers have an IP67 ingress protection rating, which makes them ideal for use in damp or dusty environments. However, it should be noted that these LED drivers should never be submerged in water, nor mounted in direct sunlight.

Applications for LED Drivers with PWM Output

The big advantage with using a LED driver with a PWM output is that it will dim evenly, regardless of the actual load on the LED driver. This is particularly useful for when you want to dim LED strip.

Most MEAN WELL LED drivers dim by varying the amplitude of the output current. Therefore, to achieve a satisfactory dimming result, the LED drivers would need to be loaded up to their maximum capacity (ADM recommends 90~95%).

If the load is lower than 90% you most likely will find the dimming performance to be unsatisfactory.

For example, if you place a 120-WATT load on a 240-WATT LED driver, nothing will happen until you turn the dimmer switch down to about the half way mark. If you then turn the dimmer past the half way mark you will find the light suddenly drops down to very low, making it impossible to adjust the light to the required light level.

Typically, LED strip is cut to length on site, during installation. Sometimes it is necessary to cut the strip a bit longer, or shorter than originally anticipated. This means the load on the LED driver has been changed and the dimming performance could be affected.

LED drivers with a PWM output dim evenly regardless of the load on the LED driver.

All MEAN WELL PWM series LED drivers come with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.
