MEAN WELL Phase Cut Dimmable LED Drivers

Installation Advice

There is only one series of MEAN WELL Phase Cut dimmable LED driver that carries the necessary Australian Electrical Safety Certification.

MEAN WELL PCD Series LED Drivers

The PCD series LED drivers have a constant current output and ADM stocks the most commonly used models:

Output Current / Voltage Range

Power Output

350mA / 24 ~ 48V

16.8 WATTS

700mA / 16 ~ 24V 16.8 WATTS

700mA / 24 ~ 36V 25.2 WATTS

These are supplied with a factory fitted Australian approved flex and plug, and you may order any quantity you need. There is no minimum order quantity for ADM stocked MEAN WELL LED drivers.

Other models in the range are available via special order. There is a modest minimum order quantity required for models not listed above, and a 12-week lead time also applies. This is because a special version of these LED drivers has to be produced, which complies with Australian electrical safety standards. These are manufactured to order.

ADM holds the Australian electrical safety certificate for the special version, which is required for the Australian market. Be aware if you decide to order your PCD LED driver from another supplier. It may not be the Australian approved version.

The MEAN WELL PCD series is known to be compatible with the following Clipsal dimmer switches:

  • 32E450UDM
  • NO 32E450TM

ADM recommends that installers test dimmer switch compatibility before commencing installation work for their customers.

The MEAN WELL PCD series LED drivers carry a 3-year warranty.

Constant Voltage Phase Cut Dimmable LED Drivers

MEAN WELL doesn’t manufacture a constant voltage phase cut dimmable LED driver.

However, ADM does stock the Power Source range of premium quality constant voltage phase cut dimmable LED drivers.

There are two different styles available:

Power Source PDV-75
IP20 Rated for Indoor Use

IP66 for Outdoor Use

Please note as with all outdoor LED drivers, the IP66 models should not be mounted in direct sunlight, as this will cause the temperature in the LED driver to exceed the maximum operating temperature range. They should also not be submerged in water.

Product Quality

Until we test the Power Source LED Drivers!

When ADM commenced testing this range of phase cut dimmable LED drivers they looked promising from the outset. Throughout 2018 we conducted vigorous testing using various different leading edge and trailing edge dimmers.

This involved ADM constructing our own test apparatus and trialling the dimming performance of the LED drivers under varying types of loads.

The Power Source range of LED drivers performed very well, meeting ADM’s high expectations for performance and quality.
